Snailspace Therapies also offers Thai massage - a dynamic style of massage blended from the Indian Ayurvedic and Chinese traditions that converged in ancient Thailand. It involves passive stretches derived from yogic practice and "Sen" line acupressure work, similar to that of the Chinese meridian system. The actual massage is performed on a futon on the ground rather than a raised massage couch and uses slow rhythmical compressions and stretches along the body's energy lines. Trained both in Thailand and at Bristol's BCMB school, I personally gravitate towards the Northern, Chiang Mai style of massage - which is much slower and deeper than the more brutal Bangkok style which often comes to mind when people think of Thai massage.
The Benefits of Thai Massage include:
The removal of energetic blockages in the body promoting good health and a general increase in energy levels.
Improvement in alignment and posture.
An increase in flexibility.
Release of muscular tension.
Relaxation serving to promote the body's natural healing processes.
Acupressure and stretching to alleviate pain.
Aids harmonisation and imbalances of the nervous system and improves efficiency of blood and lymph flow in the body.
PLEASE NOTE: Although a single session can certainly be of great benefit, to achieve the best possible results it is recommended that a plan of multiple sessions is undertaken as each session tends to develop further and unravel more than the previous.
